Season 5 Discussion

I would certainly think Aly would be able make her own fart noises. Real or otherwise.

Barney's "over the top" bit didn't used to bother me other than wondering why he was in the group since he was so different. Since then they've shown why he's managed to fir in. Now that they've done that I kinda wish they'd cut back on it. Not eliminate it since it seems to drive the ratings but maybe the sheer number of times he's in that art of his character.

Just a FYI. The actress who plays Ted's future daughter is in Kick Ass, A REALLY good, very different comic based movie. Plays the love interest and shows more skin, but none of the "naughty" bits. Has a good sized part.

Well, it was a Ted centric episode. I found much of it too ludicrous to be funny, but there were some nice Ally reaction shots and at least Barney was kept to the sidelines. It really did make the point about the three-edged sword of truth. The bit about baggage was a good point about people. Even in my teens I discovered that. When I look back at some of the women I had to deal with in my life I’m surprised I don’t have double hernias. :wn:

I did enjoy the huge packing crate with “Sleeps with her brother” on it at the end. Interestingly enough that is more a cultural thing than an across the board condemnation.

The line about Lilly and Martial playing at tying her up being fun but the reality being scary was priceless. It reminded me of the W/G fan fic I use to write on occasion. OK, over share.

So we've arrived at another Season Finale **sniff**whine**whimper**

Luckily, there was lots of great Lily stuff. I know I've become like a broken record, but watch Lily's face during the "telepathic conversations" in the episode: AH would have been a sensational silent film star. I wonder if someone could convince Mel Brooks to do a "Silent Movie 2"? They sequelize everything else in Hollywood these days.....

I just know I don't have to tell anyone on this board what my favorite Lily line was--

Lily (to Marshall): "...stick it to me, and stick to me hard!" :o

I couldn't help thinking that in some sense this makes Lily a true fantasy fullfilment for us males (or, I suppose, the gay females) on this board: I have never been married, but I would have said "I do" in a hearbeat if I could have hooked up with a woman who was beautiful, sweet, adorable, and also wickedly horny. Of course, not that anyone with my looks and body would ever have had a shot a someone like that....

Now, how to survive 4/5 months without my weekly dose of HIMYM :?:

Hmmmm....hey now Hemiola let's not think that way. My looks and body aren't so hot and weren't when I met Ann but she's beautiful, sweet, adorable (well mostly) and also wickedly horny...or at least she was when we met! It can happen to anyone! You are right ...Lily is a fantasy fulfillment though for us gay females I think Willow and Tara both were more so...it's hard to imagine a woman as straight as Lily even looking twice at a gay woman!

Yes, I guess Lily's talk to Scooter about one of the expereinces she wanted to have was just a young person's talk, which we all know about :) .

I know this isn't S-5, but I'm seeing stuff as I re-watch my DVDs.

The extras. In "Where Were We?" there are 2 Guatemalan-lookign aldies sitting with two WASPy guys in the booth behind the gang, then one of them re-appaears in the Kellett Hotel scene talking with soemoen totally different. I began spinnign a story around that.
In "Swarley" the black girl with blonde hair in the beige turtleneck appears on 2 different days in the same outfit.

Lily is an only child, right?

This isn't an improtant question because none of these folks are religious but, one of Lily's cousins became (presumably Roman Cahtolic) nun but was Lily herself raised Catholic? (Ted and Barney were, as was shown on screen, Robin probably also. Marshall of course is probably soem type of Lutheran. (My people don't cut a great figure on TV, do we? Marshall, Rose from The Golden Girls and the twerpy bartender from Cheers. Maybe we do, actually.)
And, I know that in the What-might-have-been scene with Ted and Stella, we only saw the reception, not the ceremony, but it seemed like they stepped out from under a canopy. Was Stella Jewish? Or was that just the reception and Shelter Island dining hall decoration? Or both :D ?

I spent too many years with my ex-wife. Okay, ethnic Italians aren't, on average, the longets people in the world, I know. The actor palying Brad in S-2 is a bit taller than JAson actually. I keep catching myself saying what *she* might say (she's allowed, I'm not) "That is one big dago."

And I cna't help thinking, when i see Josh, I want to ask him the same question i want to ask aMber Benson, "what was your name before your grandfather changed it?"
Tara;I can't believe I've finally found you.
Willow;Oh, I believe it, I'm good at being found, I mean... oh, hell!

There's been a number of times when Lily has commented how how hot some other women where. I seem to recall once or twice her saying she would "do" the woman. The way she said it was in a joking manner but she obviously is looking even if it's not totally serious.

My memory is hazy. Did she have a fling when she left and went to pursue her art? I don't see her cheating on Marshall now but for some reason I can see her in a threesome. I have nothing to base that on except she seems very adventurous about sex. I have a bigger problem so Marshall do it though.

From what I've seen it's just something she talked about. Apparently a French guy was sort of making moves on her once in Paris.

As far as I know, Lily never cheated on Marshall during the San Francisco "hiatus". And yes, I do believe she is an only child (They have never shown or mentioned a sibling for her).

The mention of Woody from Cheers brought a smile to my face. I still remember this hilarious exchange about religion--

Sam: How's the engagement going?
Woody: We may have to break it off. Religious differences.
Sam: But...you're both Lutherans!
Woody: Yes, but I'm Lutheran Church of America; she's Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

Nobody on HIMYM seems particularly religious. They seem to spend more time at the bar than in any kind of church. As far as Stella is concerned, I'd have to re-watch the wedding episode.

I sure hope they bring on the mother next season; it's time.

Would it be cheating if she'd broken it off?

JMHO but yes! If you go outside the established relationship, its cheating.

But if they broke up it wouldn't be an established relationship.

It’s stated in the episode where they visit the empire state building that Lilly’s total sexual experience outside of Marshal was one brief period with scooter where they “got into the lobby”. I’ll take that as cannon.

As to her orientation. Curiosity is very common and natural. Even more so with homosexuality being pushed so much in media today. (Before anybody picks up torches and pitchforks let me just say that I was one of the many Canadians who contacted their MP every time same sex marriage came up in our parliament in support of passing the bill. All people deserve to be treated with equality and respect that doesn’t mean I can’t observe and comment on trends in media.) I don’t think it means anything. Besides she’s still with Marshal in the future, and I don’t see him sharing, it’s not in his nature.
