What is The Palace?
The Palace is software that runs on Macintosh and Windows OS computers. The software allows you to connect to "palaces", or chat rooms that users have set up for people to enter and talk with one another.
Where do I download Palace?
You can download the Palace software from http://practice.chatserve.com/. Install it on your computer and run it. It's very easy!
What and where is the AHAS Palace?
Our Palace is called AlyCHAT. Once you run Palace, Connect to this address... 68.76.161.219 and BOOM, you're in AlyCHAT!
Is Palace software easy to use?
In some ways, yes. In some ways, no. It's very easy to get in a Palace chatroom and start talking. It's even pretty easy to "wear" avatars that are available. It becomes a little more difficult to create your own avatars and do other things that can push the Palace envelope.
We suggest you download your Palace software sometime over the next few days and visit AlyCHAT to get your feet wet. This week will be a great opportunity to practice!
Here are some instructional sites if you want to get started early!

Wait a minute!? Do I have to pay to use this software!?
No! When the Palace software first came out, you had to pay to use it. But when the company that wrote the software went out of business, they made using the software free!

I have a slow (dialup) connection! Can I join the party?
Absolutely! The Palace software was written back in the late '90's, when 28.8 modems were the norm. Palace software was designed to work with slow modem speeds, so you should have no problems whatsoever!
